Today is Day 3 of the Crossroads Tour!

Today I’m visiting Book Faery! I talk to Tori about my sibilant S, my pseudo-secret identity, who should play Death if HUNGER were a movie, and other things. Stop by, and then be sure to check out the other author interviews on the Crossroads Tour so you can answer today’s question.
And look: more HUNGER reviews and interviews!
Eleni at La Femme Readers asks me what is the craziest thing that I’ve ever done, and other burning questions.
Heather at Bewitched Bookworms reviews HUNGER.
Amy at Amy Reads also reviews HUNGER.
And Dani at On Vision Purple also reviews HUNGER.
Edited: And even more reviews and interviews:
Adventures in Children’s Publishing: an interview and a poster giveaway!
Writing Is A Blessing: a review, and interview and a poster giveaway!
The New York Journal of Books reviewed HUNGER!
And Justine magazine has three short reviews of HUNGER!

It’s October 18, 2010…and that means HUNGER has officially launched! **throws confetti** Ironically, I’ve got a horrible sore throat, so I can’t swallow. Sigh.
HUNGER is available at Barnes and Noble, Borders, Powell’s, Books-A-Million, Chapters, Book Depository, your favorite indie, and Amazon (also in the UK and Canada). As you know, a portion of proceeds is being donated to the National Eating Disorders Association, so if you bought a copy, thank you for helping make a difference!
If you bought a copy of HUNGER, take a picture of you with the book and email it to me; I’ll post it on my blog. And THANK YOU!
Assuming I don’t have strep throat (eek), I’ll be reading and signing tonight at Flights of Fantasy at 7 pm, in Colonie. Hope to see you there! (I may have a surgical mask on.)
Later today, Day 3 of the Crossroads Tour, more reviews of HUNGER, and a Deadline Dames post. Stay tuned!

Look! A spiffy banner!

Today for the Crossroads blog tour, I’m by Book-Savvy, where I answer the burning question of which author, living or dead, I would most want to collaborate with. Here’s the interview. Heather is currently reading HUNGER; fingers crossed that she likes it.
And hey, if you’re not sure what the Crossroads blog tour is, here’s the deal: Starting yesterday, October 16, 2010, and all through Halloween this month, 16 book bloggers are hosting 16 YA authors. But this is more than just a great opportunity to find out about 16 books and their authors — you can win stuff too! First, read the intro story at the Crossroads Tour. Now scroll down to the questions you need to answer correctly, by Halloween, to be entered into the contest. How do you get the answers? You have to read the interviews at the 16 blogs! That’s right…the answer to the daily question is there, somewhere. You have to hunt it up (and learn some cool things along the way about the 16 authors). The list of the 16 awesome bloggers are at the bottom of the Crossroads Tour main page.
What can you win, you ask? Well, along with some terrific swag…

…there’s also the grand prize of:
- signed copy of Under My Skin by Judith Graves
- copy of Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble
- copy of Freaksville by Kitty Keswick
- gothic stickers
- funky Halloween decorations
- a DVD featuring Classic Horror Films
- a $10 gift certificate for Leap Books
- a Leap Books T-shirt
So come join us at The Crossroads. Learn stuff. Maybe win stuff too.

Welcome to the Crossroads tour! Starting on October 16, 2010, and running through Halloween, 16 paranormal authors will meet 16 bloggers at The Crossroads. Each day, each blogger on the tour will have a new author on the blog. And each week, you will have the chance to win some awesome swag prize packs. (This wording was taken directly from YA Addict, because clearly, I have no scruples.)
So over the next 16 days, I will be visiting 16 different blogs for the Crossroads tour. Lots of stuff will be given away…including a copy of HUNGER!
But wait, there’s more! Go to The Crossroads Tour website and read the story there. As Judith Graves says:
Each day of The Crossroads Tour, a new research question will be revealed on The Crossroads Blog Tour main page (http://judithgraves.com/events/the-crossroads-tour/), and each day the answer to that question will be found within one of the 16 different blog posts by Crossroads Tour authors. Your job is to get the question, read the blog posts, and collect all 16 answers by the end of the tour, on Halloween.
Later today, my part of the Crossroads Tour will begin at YA Addict. See you there!

Today’s HUNGER blog tour stop is at The Story Siren, for an interview! I talk about the importance of scales in the book, as well as who my favorite character was to write, and other things too. Thanks for the interview, Kristi!
More reviews of HUNGER have been coming in…as well as a number for RAGE! (For the record, it’s very surreal to see reviews of book #2 before book #1 has technically launched.) Here are a few:
Wayfaring Writer: another interview with me, as well as a review of HUNGER
Miles 2 Go: reviews both HUNGER and RAGE
Bibliophilic Monologues: re-posts a HUNGER review
Writing Is A Blessing: selects RAGE for this week’s Waiting On Wednesday
Reading Angel: reviews HUNGER
Whatchamacallit Reviews: reviews HUNGER
Okay, so maybe that’s a lot and not a few. My continued heartfelt thanks to all who have read and reviewed HUNGER (OMG, and RAGE)! HUNGER officially launches on Monday. I’m giddy!
Separately…I finished the LOSS synopsis, finally! My fabulous crit partner has weighed in, and now my agent is reviewing it, along with the first five chapters of the book. Fingers crossed she likes it!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Before I link over to today’ HUNGER blog tour stop, I want to give a huge shout out to a great friend and fabulous writer, whose latest book hits the shelves today.

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY, A.S. KING!!!
Yes, today is the official publication date for PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ, a Junior Library Guild selection that has earned starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Kirkus. PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ is about a teenage girl, her dead (ex) best friend, and her attempt to clear his name. The author’s first book, THE DUST OF 100 DOGS, was a fabulous read — and VERA is even better. Get thee to a bookstore and buy PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ.
You can read an interview between Vera and Death here. And if you’re a Saffron fan from 100 DOGS, you can read Saffron’s interview with Death here.
Today’s HUNGER blog stop is with Steph over at Steph Su Reads. Along with the review, there’s also an interview in which I talk about the Thin Voice, Death, the end of the world, and what Horseman of the Apocalypse I’d be if I could. It was a very fun interview to do; hope you enjoy reading it!

Later today, I expect there will be HUNGER official blog tour stops at Just Blinded Book Reviews and at Reverie Book Reviews. Until then, a brief report about Albacon, and then a look at some other HUNGER reviews. (You know, in case you were on the fence about whether to buy a copy or two.)
Albacon 2010 was a lot of fun, and I’m not just saying that because I’ll be the Guest of Honor in 2011. The three panels I was on were enjoyable — there’s nothing like talking about vampires and other supernatural creatures to really get the blood pumping. My favorite panel was the one that focused on gender roles in SF/F; there was a lot of talk about covers and why there are such alpha male/uber chesty female stereotypes on covers, as well as other things. The signing was good — especially when a local photographer came by, eek! God, I haven’t blushed that much in a long time — and the reading was great fun. A captive audience, forced to listen to me talk about HUNGER and RAGE for an hour? What’s not to like?
Here are more reviews of HUNGER:
The Page Flipper gives HUNGER an A! Woot! (And apparently, Chelsea is a spy in training. Good to know!)
Coconuts & Cream gives HUNGER a 5 out of 5! Yay!
Harmony’s Radiant Reads rates HUNGER as “Amazingness”! Dude. How cool is that? I hope that RAGE will make the “Awesomesauce” rating.
More later!

Very short post today because I have to get ready for tournament tae kwon do class (owie) and then for Albacon. So superfast…
First, there will be a review of HUNGER at The Hiding Spot today! I don’t know when, and I don’t know if it will be a good review or not. How exciting! I’ll have to check back later. Fingers crossed… [Edited to add: Due to technical difficulties, Sara's review didn't go up until Sunday. Here it is...and all I can say is YAY! Definitely worth the wait!]
Second, if you will be at Albacon today, I’m on a 12 noon panel about vampires, doing a 1 pm signing of HUNGER, and then a 5 pm reading from HUNGER and RAGE. Hope to see you there!
And last, but not least…the winner of the signed copy of HUNGER, picked randomly, is…
Sloth- He would be the horseman that people would sit around and wait for. I imagine him coming out of the TV for the couch potatoes!
Congratulations, Becci! Please email me via my website contact form, and give me your postal address so I can send you the signed copy. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you to all 126 people (OMG) who entered! Do stick around; there may be other contests and giveaways.

Today’s blog stop is at T.V. & Book Addict. The book didn’t work for Lisette for a number of reasons, but she says the eating disorders parts of the book were realistic, and that the book would “speak volumes to those who have an eating disorder or know of someone who has an eating disorder.” That makes me very happy. She also details from DSM-IV the criteria for both anorexia and bulimia, and she gives contact information for NEDA and for suicide prevention. Terrific information!
SEPARATELY…ALBACON!!!
Tonight I will be at Albacon in lovely downtown Albany, NY. I’m on a panel tonight at 6 pm about supernatural creatures besides vampires. Tomorrow, I’ll be on a 12 noon panel about vampires (should they sparkle or go for the jugular?) — AND I’ll be signing copies of HUNGER (at 1 pm) and reading from both HUNGER and RAGE (at 5 pm). Sunday at noon, I’ll be on a third panel about gender roles in SF/F.
