Happy Tuesday, everyone! Before I link over to today’ HUNGER blog tour stop, I want to give a huge shout out to a great friend and fabulous writer, whose latest book hits the shelves today.

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY, A.S. KING!!!
Yes, today is the official publication date for PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ, a Junior Library Guild selection that has earned starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Kirkus. PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ is about a teenage girl, her dead (ex) best friend, and her attempt to clear his name. The author’s first book, THE DUST OF 100 DOGS, was a fabulous read — and VERA is even better. Get thee to a bookstore and buy PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ.
You can read an interview between Vera and Death here. And if you’re a Saffron fan from 100 DOGS, you can read Saffron’s interview with Death here.
Today’s HUNGER blog stop is with Steph over at Steph Su Reads. Along with the review, there’s also an interview in which I talk about the Thin Voice, Death, the end of the world, and what Horseman of the Apocalypse I’d be if I could. It was a very fun interview to do; hope you enjoy reading it!

Later today, I expect there will be HUNGER official blog tour stops at Just Blinded Book Reviews and at Reverie Book Reviews. Until then, a brief report about Albacon, and then a look at some other HUNGER reviews. (You know, in case you were on the fence about whether to buy a copy or two.)
Albacon 2010 was a lot of fun, and I’m not just saying that because I’ll be the Guest of Honor in 2011. The three panels I was on were enjoyable — there’s nothing like talking about vampires and other supernatural creatures to really get the blood pumping. My favorite panel was the one that focused on gender roles in SF/F; there was a lot of talk about covers and why there are such alpha male/uber chesty female stereotypes on covers, as well as other things. The signing was good — especially when a local photographer came by, eek! God, I haven’t blushed that much in a long time — and the reading was great fun. A captive audience, forced to listen to me talk about HUNGER and RAGE for an hour? What’s not to like?
Here are more reviews of HUNGER:
The Page Flipper gives HUNGER an A! Woot! (And apparently, Chelsea is a spy in training. Good to know!)
Coconuts & Cream gives HUNGER a 5 out of 5! Yay!
Harmony’s Radiant Reads rates HUNGER as “Amazingness”! Dude. How cool is that? I hope that RAGE will make the “Awesomesauce” rating.
More later!

Very short post today because I have to get ready for tournament tae kwon do class (owie) and then for Albacon. So superfast…
First, there will be a review of HUNGER at The Hiding Spot today! I don’t know when, and I don’t know if it will be a good review or not. How exciting! I’ll have to check back later. Fingers crossed… [Edited to add: Due to technical difficulties, Sara's review didn't go up until Sunday. Here it is...and all I can say is YAY! Definitely worth the wait!]
Second, if you will be at Albacon today, I’m on a 12 noon panel about vampires, doing a 1 pm signing of HUNGER, and then a 5 pm reading from HUNGER and RAGE. Hope to see you there!
And last, but not least…the winner of the signed copy of HUNGER, picked randomly, is…
Sloth- He would be the horseman that people would sit around and wait for. I imagine him coming out of the TV for the couch potatoes!
Congratulations, Becci! Please email me via my website contact form, and give me your postal address so I can send you the signed copy. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you to all 126 people (OMG) who entered! Do stick around; there may be other contests and giveaways.

Today’s blog stop is at T.V. & Book Addict. The book didn’t work for Lisette for a number of reasons, but she says the eating disorders parts of the book were realistic, and that the book would “speak volumes to those who have an eating disorder or know of someone who has an eating disorder.” That makes me very happy. She also details from DSM-IV the criteria for both anorexia and bulimia, and she gives contact information for NEDA and for suicide prevention. Terrific information!
SEPARATELY…ALBACON!!!
Tonight I will be at Albacon in lovely downtown Albany, NY. I’m on a panel tonight at 6 pm about supernatural creatures besides vampires. Tomorrow, I’ll be on a 12 noon panel about vampires (should they sparkle or go for the jugular?) — AND I’ll be signing copies of HUNGER (at 1 pm) and reading from both HUNGER and RAGE (at 5 pm). Sunday at noon, I’ll be on a third panel about gender roles in SF/F.

Today’s Traveling To Teens stop is with Books By Their Cover. No interview today. Here is the review, which includes a cover grade. (I have to say, I was truly blessed by the cover gods for both HUNGER and RAGE.)
Don’t forget to enter the contest for a signed copy of HUNGER; I’m picking a winner (at random) this Saturday, so if you haven’t already done so, enter today!
And look: A new Post Mortem interview! In this one, Death interviews Vera, the protagonist of A.S. King’s upcoming novel, PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ, which is a Junior Library Guild selection and received a starred review from Kirkus (which, as far as I’m concerned, makes A.S. King a goddess).

Today’s stop on the HUNGER blog tour is at In Bed With Books. There’s an interview that gets into how I picked where the protagonist travels in the book, the differences between writing for teens and writing for adults, as well as other topics. And there’s also a review of the book.
Later this week, I hope to finalize three new Post Mortem interviews. Stay tuned!

Day two of the HUNGER blog tour is here! Today I’m visiting Literary Landscapes. Come check it out! (The review of HUNGER will go up next week. Eek!)
I also have a snippet of HUNGER posted at the Deadline Dames. (Did you know I’m a Deadline Dame? Now you do!) The excerpt is from chapter 5, when Lisa meets Death and realizes exactly who–or what–he is.
Over at the Chapters Indigo Teen Blog, you can read about the Smart Chicks’ favorite smart chicks–nine YA paranormal authors discuss which characters were their role models when they were growing up. The fabulous Rachel Caine has something extremely cool that she added.
Later today, there should be a (God willing, positive) review of HUNGER over at The Book Cellar. It’s not up yet. I’m sort of biting my nails as I refresh the page. Once the review is up, I’ll link to it. [Edited to add: Alas, the book wasn't to the reviewer's taste. Here's why. Oh well!]
And my local library told me today that they’ve ordered HUNGER. Yay! **throws confetti**

Hey, anyone want a signed copy of HUNGER?
Ooh, you do? Cool! I’m going to give one away to one lucky commenter, picked completely at random! All you have to do to enter is answer the following: We know about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Famine, War, Pestilence/The Conqueror, and Death. If you could add a Fifth Horseman, who would it be? Make the answer serious, funny, cute, silly, philosophical…whatever works! But you have to answer it to be officially entered in the contest.
Winner will be picked at random on Saturday, October 9, 2010, and announced here on the blog. The winner will have 48 hours to email me with a mailing address…otherwise I’ll pick a new winner.
Have at it!
